Twignal to twoise
mandag, 13. juli 2009When using Twitter, you have to decide who to follow, who not to follow, and when to unfollow whom (did I use whom correctly?). I follow people based on three criteria (not unlike my criteria for subscribing to RSS feeds, btw) :
- Are they RL friends?
- Are they among the usual suspects?
- Do they write about something I care about?
The first criterion is easy - most of my RL friends have no real web presence, so the few that do, are automatically followed.
The second criterion refers to an ever-evolving clique of early adopters and interesting people, mainly in the Danish blogosphere. They are generally followed, but a few of them are just too annoying.
The third group is by far the largest - and it changes over time, depending on my interests. Currently I follow some people who said interesting stuff at Reboot, people around Wikimedia, people who write about beekeeping - and a few celebs and their buddies. Except for the last subgroup, staying on topic is essential; if I expect you to write about social media, you’d better do so (or be very interesting in not doing so).
